Melbourne’s Midsumma Festival runs from mid Jan to early Feb and is a 3 week celebration of queer arts and culture.
The festival opens on Sunday 13 January with Carnival which runs 11am-6pm. Bi-Alliance was unable to secure a stall for this event due to not having public liability insurance but thanks to the generosity of other organisations several of our members who are staffing their stalls will also be available to talk bisexuality and about Bi-Alliance. You can find us at the following stalls and times:
Rebecca : IBM, 11-11:30am
Sally: Victorian Gay & Lesbian Rights Lobby (VGLRL), 10am-12 midday
Rowan: Peninsula Health, 2-4pm
Kathi: Darebin City Council, 4-6pm
Feel free to ask for us by name if you happen to be at one of the stalls at the above listed times. A couple of us will also be wearing a Bi-Alliance badge, for easier identification. Stall listings and locations can be found on the Midsumma website.
We’ve also printed up a fresh batch of Bi-Alliance flyers, which will be available on the stalls for Darebin City Council, Gay and Lesbian Liaison Officers (Victoria Police), Peninsula Health and VGLRL. A huge thank you to these organisations for their support.
The festival closes on 3 February with Pride March and we will be marching once again. Assemble in the park cornered by Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy St Kilda for 2pm start. Further details, including marching order, for this event will be available closer to the date.
