Next weekend (2 February) is the Midsumma Pride March, and Bi-Alliance Victoria will be marching proudly with everyone else.
The Bi-Alliance is marching at position 134 down the end of the March.
The American Bisexuality Institute has kindly sent over their mid-sized bi-flag (it’s still pretty big) for us to march with this year. We need lots of people to come along and help us carry the bi flag for the duration of the march.
So the details:
WHERE: In the park on the corner of Fitzroy Street and Lakeside Drive, St Kilda.
WHEN: Meet from midday onward and share a picnic on the grass, then march at 2pm
WEAR: We don’t have a real “uniform”, but we usually wear purple, with pink and blue mixed in. Wear whatever makes you feel happy and comfortable, though!
BRING: Sun protection is a must (sunscreen, hat, parasol, etc.), water (it’s going to be hot) and optionally something to share at the picnic (but please don’t feel obliged!)
Remember we’ll be picking up everything and marching, so resist the temptation to bring anything big and bulky, like folding chairs or sun sails, unless they are _very_ portable.
If you have any questions, please ask.
PLEASE NOTE: Sunday is forecast to be quite hot. There is a cool change due “during the afternoon” and hopefully that arrives before or during the march, but it will still be quite hot for the majority of the march. If you are affected by the weather, please consider carefully whether your attendance may harm your health.
If you want to come but are a bit freaked out, feel free to call James (Melbourne discussion group facilitator) on 0407 823 025 for some reassurance.
